When tissue damage occurs due to bacteria, trauma, chemicals, temperature or any other event, a large number of substances are released from the damaged tissue and cause dramatic secondary changes in the surrounding damaged tissue. This whole complex of tissue changes is called inflammation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the first consequences of inflammation is the \"Wall-Building\" between the damaged area and other tissue. The tissue gaps and lymphatics in the inflamed area are blocked by the fibrinogen clot, and after a while, the fluid flows through the gaps with difficulty. This walling action delays the spread of bacteria or toxic products. The severity of the inflammatory event is usually proportional to the degree of tissue damage. For example, when staphylococci spread into tissues, they release extremely lethal cellular toxins.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
